Q |
Am I covered as a
professional or amateur
athlete and should I
purchase the hazardous
rider? |
|
A |
No coverage for any
organized professional or
amateur sporting activities. |
Q |
One of the excluded items
is emergency room charges
for illness. Does that mean
that I am not covered in the
ER and are ER charges for
injuries and accidents
covered? |
|
A |
The coverage does not cover
going to the ER for a cold,
but if it is an illness that
requires and overnight stay,
then you are covered.
Accidents and injuries are
covered. |
Q |
I will be traveling to a
country that requires that I
show proof of medical
coverage and was wondering
if my ID card is acceptable
by the country's consulate? |
|
A |
You may be required to
produce a Visa letter, which
is a document to
substantiate that your
coverage will be effective
during your travels to a
specific country. |
Q |
I am a US citizen and
will be applying to be a
Canadian citizen in 3 to 6
months. However, I plan to
come back to the states for
a week. What do you
recommend? |
|
A |
You can purchase the Atlas
Series for at least 3 months
and purchase the Incidental
Home Country Rider, which
will provide coverage in
your home country during one
incidental trip of up to 10
days. |
Q |
Are pre-existing
conditions covered? And can
I be turned down for
coverage? |
|
A |
No, you will not be turned
down, as the Atlas Series
plans are guaranteed issued
plans. There is a look back
period for pre-existing
conditions for 5 years from
the date of application for
any illness, injury or
medical condition that will
not be covers under the
Atlas Series. The only
exception is when you are
covered with the Atlas
Extra, you will have a
pre-existing limitation of
coverage for up to $2,500
for a sudden and unexpected
outbreak or reoccurrence of
a pre-existing condition.
Treatment must be sought
within 24 hours of the
unexpected occurrence. |
Q |
If I purchase the Atlas
Extra for 12 months and end
up coming back to my home
country after 10 months, am
I entitled to a refund of
the difference in coverage I
do not use? |
|
A |
Yes. Cancellation requests
received after the effective
date will be subject to the
following conditions: (1) a
